Timberline Surfboards are custom built in Santa Barbara, California. Each board is hand crafted by Raphael Wolfe (the woodworking) and Ryan Lovelace (the shapes and designs).

We use 1/8” Paulownia wood planks (not veneers) over light foam cores to add incredible strength while keeping the weight of our boards low. The board’s core is a recycled foam which is extremeley light and strong at the same time.

Paulownia is a light, dense wood which is native to southeast asia. The tree itself grows on average 10 ft. per year, which makes it infinitely more renewable than balsa or any other wood commonly used in surfboards. The boards have solid wood rails which creates a perimeter stringer system.

The perimeter stringer system and our method of building allows lengthwise flex which projects you further down the line. The combination of these materials and construction techniques provides lasting strength, beauty and above all the functionality and performance that you would expect for each shape.
